Two Churches As One

The Gathering is an experiment of two churches from very different backgrounds working together in a new kind of way.

ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH OF EVERETT

Started in 1901 in downtown Everett, Zion moved to its current location in the South Forest Park Neighborhood in 1962. Zion is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and has been a hub for community service (food bank, AA meetings, community meals, etc) from it’s beginning.

PATHWAYS CHURCH

Started in 2006 in Mill Creek, WA, Pathways met in a school cafeteria for about 15 years on Sunday mornings. Pathways is an independent, non-denominational church that likes to explore questions about faith in Jesus. We ask questions about things we don’t know, but more fundamentally, we like to question things we think we do know. We’ve found that there are ways of thinking and believing that have been handed down to us that we’ve never really critically thought about because it’s “just the way things are.” We think it’s necessary to evaluate these things as part of the responsibility of faith and struggle with whether those things fit the beauty of Jesus or need to be re-thought.
